The Brief
In 2025, under its newly formed Beyond Trails brand, The Great Run Company launched an ambitious new concept: ultra trail running events set in major cities across the UK.
For the inaugural Bristol Ultra, Beyond Trails reached out to Superhuman Group to support and deliver locally focused event marketing, pre-event planning and logistics, course construction, event staffing, and race-day operations.
The Solution
Local Marketing & Outreach
To build awareness and entries, we activated a targeted local campaign:
- Leveraged our Bristol event network and community connections
- Boosted reach via social media, digital amplification, and partner introductions
- Ran targeted email campaigns to relevant audiences
This grassroots approach significantly increased visibility and pre-race engagement.
Pre-Event Support & Infrastructure
To give the Beyond Trails team a strong local base, we provided
- Access to our Bristol offices during event week
- Storage for equipment, race packs, and supplies
- Hands-on assistance with set-up, vehicle loading, and route logistics
This support gave the organisers the efficiency and flexibility they needed in the crucial final days.
Course Management
We deployed three of our most highly experienced Course Managers to oversee the course, set up/take down, and race-day operations
- Assisted with route planning and signage checks
- Assisted with live runner tracking and rapid issue escalation
- Coordinated with medics and response teams via Event Control
Their oversight ensured a safe, well-managed course from start to finish.
Feed Station Management
Three Feed Station Teams were positioned at key intervals, providing:
- Full set-up and breakdown of feed points
- Nutrition, hydration, and medical supplies management
- Volunteer coordination and runner support
These stations became a hallmark of the race —reliable, well-stocked, and morale-boosting for participants.
The Outcome
✅ Smooth, successful launch of the inaugural Bristol Ultra
✅ Strengthened operations with experienced, responsive event staff
✅ Enhanced participant experience with quality feed stations and signage
✅ Community engagement boosted through targeted local marketing
✅ Provided logistical backbone via office space, storage, and pre-event support
