Project: Workout Bristol –Turning Ordinary Into Extraordinary
When a community-driven gym chain wanted to spark attention, energise its members, and show off its personality —all while raising money for Sport Relief —they needed a concept that was equal parts engaging, challenging, and inspiring.
Superhuman Group delivered exactly that, designing a one-of-a-kind docu-series and live event programme that transformed Workout Bristol members into local fitness heroes.

Workout Bristol is a low-cost, high-value health club chain that’s been serving communities since 2011. Far more than just gyms, their facilities include saunas, steam rooms, cafés, healthcare services, and more —all wrapped in a friendly, member-focused culture.
They challenged us to:

- Engage and inspire existing members
- Showcase their brand values and community focus
- Create something fresh, exciting, and shareable
- Raise funds for Sport Relief through a fun, inclusive campaign
The Solution
From Ordinary to Extraordinary (O2E) – Sponsored by Workout
We designed and delivered a completely original concept: a six-month social media docu-series and live event challenge programme.
The format:
4 teams of 12 members each (all current gym members)1 specialist coach per team (all Workout Bristol instructors)6monthly challenges, each with a different theme, skill focus, and level of intensityFull content coverage, including training footage, behind-the-scenes stories, event day action, and the grand finale awards ceremony
The Challenges:
- Pandemonium Race – An endurance obstacle race testing grit and teamwork
- Duathlon at Dawn – An early-morning cycle-and-run challenge to kick-start the day in style
- Trojan Strongman/Woman – A showcase of raw strength, lifting, and functional fitness
- Urban Orienteering – Navigating Bristol’s streets in a fast-paced urban adventure
- Dragon CrossFit Throwdown – A high-intensity WOD challenge for bragging rights
- Sport Relief Challenge – A community fundraising finale for an incredible cause
Why it worked:
- Community-first design – Involving members directly in the action, alongside their own coaches
- Built-in storytelling – Every challenge became a chapter in a bigger journey, perfect for social media
- Multi-platform content – Video, photography, and live coverage maximised reach across digital channels
- Event-to-content loop – Live events created rich media assets, and content fuelled anticipation for the next challenge
